The pacifier is something that we usually associate with young age, it’s main role is to silence and pacify. Whereas the jaw is portrayed as the mechanism of speech, thus when these two items are placed together, it creates a sense of contradiction, the speech is now being cancelled out by the pacifier. And so for this work, it’s discussing the idea of “the right to speak” and how it can empower us.
